A visit to Barcelona would not be complete without taking a stroll through this most emblematic neighbourhood. A large section of the tour of modernist architecture winds through this zone, taking in buildings such as the Casa Milà, the Casa Batlló, and the Casa Lleó-Morera.
Although other areas of the city may have overtaken Eixample in terms of the latest trends, it remains a stylish quarter. It was the first part of the city to be developed in the 19th century, and became home to the Catalan bourgeoisie who took advantage of the expansion of the city to build mansions for their family homes.
